Create Retro Kitchen Theme with Accessories

It's all about the little things. Great saying, isn't it? But what does that mean when we are talking about decorating a kitchen in a retro theme? It means that you don't need to spend hours trying to find just the right wallpaper. You don't need to strip the kitchen floor and lay new tiles. It means you can redecorate inexpensively and easily. Let's talk about how.

No matter what your kitchen color scheme or style, you can create a retro theme. You simply pick out accessories. It's those accessories that can create your theme easily.

Add some wall decor that reminds you of being in a 1950's diner. Set your table with a retro set of placemats. Add a retro look pitcher or teapot as part of the centerpiece. Surround it with a retro salt and pepper shaker set, maybe a chrome napkin holder. Create a vignette in a corner of your counter space.

These are just some of the kinds of accessories that will create your theme. Keep thinking in terms of the accent pieces you want to have in your kitchen. A small wall shelf where a retro clock hangs above it and several retro mugs sit on the shelf makes a fun little accent focal point.

It really is all about the little things to create your theme. Of course, if you really want to, and can afford it, make major changes. But, you don't have to. You can create that retro look in your kitchen with the addition of accessories within your theme.

Instead of spending the money to retile your kitchen floor, spend it on accessories in a retro look. Pick a corner of your kitchen and add a retro step stool. Simple. Really.

Add New Retro Accents for the New Year

It's a new year and maybe it's time for you to spruce up your Retro Kitchen. Often times just something simple as a new accent piece is enough to change your look and bring into to a kitchen that you enjoy being in again.

When you're ready to change out some of your accent pieces consider things like new retro placemats. The fun of setting your table with a new look can be enough for you.

But maybe a new set of retro dish towels is more in line with your thinking. Those that hang from your towel rack, your oven or refrigerator door or as part of a charming vignette of decorating items can all add to your retro kitchen look.

Even change out your vignette look with a few new retro items to accent your look. Maybe a new retro apron, or a funny retro wall sign is enough for you.

These ideas and more are awaiting you at Retro Kitchen World. All for the joy of decorating your retro kitchen.

A Retro Kitchen And a Retro Apron

The fun of designing your retro kitchen is one thing. The joy of using it is another. When you work in the kitchen, wearing a great apron can make you feel good.

Sometimes, I just not in the mood to cook, or clean the kitchen, but putting on one of my favorite retro aprons seems to make it all the more worthwhile to be in my kitchen.

A friend of mine got me started with vintage and retro aprons. She gave me my first retro apron to go in my retro kitchen. Since, then I have added many myself and received more as gifts.

Alright, I do admit that I usually wear one of my aprons when I'm the hostess. It just seems to dress up the fun of entertaining. But, I do also wear a retro apron just because.

My friend, known as KitchenTricks, has created a whole page on vintage aprons. So many great choices just for the fun of looking and feeling great.

When you are in your own retro kitchen, try dressing up in a retro apron to enjoy yourself just a bit more.

Retro Kitchen Wall Clocks

Adding a wall clock in a retro style to your kitchen can truly bring in some of that retro look. It's usually where I start when I am redecorating my kitchen into a new theme.

The choices for retro wall clocks are fun. We think of that great era in history for the mid-century. That time when the world wars were over and life was taking on a new look and feel. Women were still the head of the kitchen, but they wanted more.

So the look of space-age was born. That look is reflected in so many of the retro wall clocks. Bold colors were used, clocks were made with some "new-fangled" far-out looks. This then translated into a fun way to show off your "new" style as a 1950's housewife.

When you are designing your retro kitchen look, be sure to add a wall clock to put some of that space-age look to your decor.
